A
private school is to be built on the campus of a public university in Canada's
British Columbia.
Simon
Fraser University has agreed to collaborate with an Australian company to create
a private preparatory school for international students on SFU's Burnaby campus.
The university hopes
the initiative will increase its international student recruitment and retention
rates.
IBT Education
will lease buildings and infrastructure on the SFU campus to form Fraser International
College.
The new college
will be owned by IBT but will have local management. IBT is an Australian-based
company that has similar arrangements with universities in Australia, the United
Kingdom, Zambia and Kenya.
